I know what you mean about making some things seem harder than they are, but I think that if you do something like scarify morning glory seeds, the number that sprout increases and they sprout faster than non-scarified ones. Left to their own devices, there are a LOT of morning glory seeds in the ground, so the perfect that sprouts may be lower, but there are still plenty of them growing. If you've only got 10 seeds, then the percentage that sprouts becomes more important. I've done it both ways, and had the 'perma morning glory beds' like you, and this is what I've personally observed. Same with something like division- if you've got a huge bed of wildish daylilies, just take a fire ax and whack away to divide it. But if you've got a slow growing, expensive variety, you gently dig the whole thing and wiggle the divisions apart and carefully plant each division into perfectly improved soil... (I also, for some reason, never realized he wrote Cricket on the Hearth, even though I read it as a child) It rather amazed me how such a large number of people saw his writing as a very important part of Christmas- despite how big Christmas is today, I do not think there is any one who occupies that sort of position.

I wrote a review of the book here: http://bookwormismytotem.blogspot.com/2017/10/dickens-and-christmas-by-lucinda.htmlLaurie Brownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09475815791837732344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3785988841295226670.post-78390527461119177352017-10-11T14:20:34.489-05:002017-10-11T14:20:34.489-05:00I've read all the Wilder books (both as a chil...I've read all the Wilder books (both as a child and recently), but this was the first companion book that I read.Debbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13898393424567867155noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3785988841295226670.post-24087820306030033462017-10-03T18:55:58.786-05:002017-10-03T18:55:58.786-05:00We have a few companion books to the Laura Ingalls...We have a few companion books to the Laura Ingalls Wilder books.
